Servers

Your website will be placed in the Nxs Internet hosting cluster. In this cluster, several services are separated on physically different devices. Besides a better performance, this also implies additional security: If a security update needs to be completed, this only needs to be completed on the devices concerned that administer the service. In the cluster, several www-, ftp-, shell-, mysql-, mail-, file-, firewall- and name servers are operated. If one of the devices shuts down, the service will be transferred automatically to one of the other devices with the same service thanks to our elaborate load balancers. As the server load is divided on several devices, your website will always be displayed swiftly on the screen of your visitors.

Network

Besides fast and stable servers, the Internet connection is also very important, as your websites might be inaccessible without it. Nxs Internet administers the Internet Connection herself: We do not depend on third parties. The hosting cluster is located in our own data centre and connected to our own network. The network consists of five 1000 Mbit connections with the Dutch junctions AMS-IX and NL-IX and worldwide network suppliers. In all, more than 1000 physical servers at our data centre are connected to the Internet.

Administration and monitoring

The devices that host your website should off course also be administered. Our technical team provides the newest stable software versions and installs security patches as soon as they are available. An intern and extern monitoring system keep a close eye on all services in our cluster. If a service should fail, immediate action is being taken, both during and outside office hours.
