Expansion as a permanent factor. Since we started our company, expansion has always been a constant factor. For eight years in a row the company is experiencing an economic growth of at least 50%. By combining this growth with automation and professionalisation we never forget the base of our success: offer high-quality services to our customers.
2000 & 2001: Founding
Nxs VOF was founded on May 1, 2000. At first, Nxs was focusing on developing websites with an accent on the technical aspect. But soon we noticed that there was a strong demand for our complete web hosting solutions. We then changed our speciality from developing sites to hosting them. Ever since 2002 we only develop sites for intern purposes.
In these first years the product of ‘web hosting’ started to gain interest on the market. Nxs Internet got the chance to expand, because of the little competition.
2002 untill 2004: Investments
With over 2500 customers, 2002 marked the beginning of a new fase for Nxs Internet, which in the meantime has become a private company. The quality of our services are one of our main goals. Nxs Internet becomes a member of RIPE and AMS-IX. A lot of money is invested in network infrastructure of the famous brands of Juniper and Extreme. Nxs Internet depends therefore not on third parties to base her services on or to disclose the Internet. Since 2001 the company is located in Watergraafsmeer and accommodates, besides of the founders, also our staff.
Nxs Internet is in the top-25 of offering domain registrations as a member of the SIDN, DNS.be and later on EURid. After a long period of acquiring experience in many data centres in Amsterdam, we definitely chose to house our 250 servers in the data centre TeleCity Southeast in 2003.
2005 & 2006: Professionalisation
Together with Nxs Internet, the whole Dutch hosting field is getting more adult every day. Hosting isn’t an exotic thing anymore: it is a critical part of doing business with our clients. In these two years Nxs Internet has become a solid and professional partner fast, working with companies like Anne Frank, Debitel, Funda, Universal Music, Speedo and the Lottery. We have also signed a contract with the Dutch Government to host a number of official websites. Our team has expanded to 15 fulltime crew members and our customers’ file exceeds the number of 6000 customers.
The data centre in Southeast is completely occupied and has 1000 servers installed. In the middle of the year 2006 a second data centre will be launched in Amsterdam. A glass fibre ring will be put between both locations to take redundancy and failover into account. Nxs Internet transforms itself from a renter of disk space into an all-round hosting specialist who knows a lot about architecture, system software, high performance hosting, database and application optimization.
2007: Own Datacentre
Nxs Internet took a strategic interest in a brand new state-of-the-art datacenter in Amsterdam Sloterdijk: DCG Amsterdam. Within this new location we have an own lounge of 600 m2 in wich over 200 racks can be placed.
2008: Engage new office space
Nxs Internet has grown out of proportions in the last years and decided to leave the office on the Kruislaan 400 (Amsterdam Science Park) and engage the 8th story in the Coengebouw. This office offers sufficient space for the further increase of our team in the coming years.
