Nxs and the environment

In our datacentre facility we use green electricity. The consumption of this green electricity is minimized by means of low-energy cooling techniques. besides that, Nxs Internet started with planting its own "Internetforest" in Winterswijk, the Netherlands last year.

Cooperation with Cleanbits

Nxs Internet planted the first trees of its allotment on the 12th of December 2008 in the province Gelderland. With this we like to make an example to the rest of the hosting branche, and we like to motivate all of them to take responsibility for the CO2 exhaust, which partially is accreditted to the internet activities. The internet forest is planted with the purpose of contributing to stop global warming. By conducting and maintaining the forest, the CO2 will be sustained and set in the forest.

The allotment in Winterswijk, part of the internet forest that will last for at least 99 years, is a joint venture of Nxs Internet and Cleanbits, who is committed to using sustainable sources in the ICT-division. The internetforest contains about 2200 Oaktrees and compensates, over a period of 99 years, 250 tons of CO2. Despite the fact that this is a step in the right direction to make our datacentre CO2 neutral, we are fully aware of the fact that there is more to it. That is why Nxs Internet, since the opening of the datacentre, uses green electricty, and uses intelligent cooling techniques to decrease the power usage, among other adjustments.
