Projects
Some of our projects to give you an idea of our activities:
20 TB redundant hosting licences
In 2008 we developed a project concerning building licence hosting for the Dutch Government. This projects was a delicate manner during the cabinet formation and therefore everything needed to go well. Overall, we file all license request for all municipalities of the Netherlands. About 20 TB of storage space is involved, which is stored at two locations. Applied techniques include load balancing, clustering, firewalling and the administration of the environment, middleware included.
A new office in Sloterdijk
In June 2008 we launched our new office at Amsterdam Sloterdijk. The building is located 2 minutes walk from our own data centre DCG Amsterdam. Several enthusiastic staff member have brainstormed to create the “perfect office”. Flex spots or only fixed spots? Open spaces or just little rooms? Step by step we were paved the way and considered all opinions for the perfect work station. In the end, it is a place where you spend a lot of time!
Constructing our own data centre
In 2007 we built our own data centre: DCG Amsterdam. This centre contains all hosting solutions for our customers. It is 2500 m² and the data centre floor is about 1200 m² net. During construction we experienced the strangest things (from problems with licenses to just-in-time delivery of a critical part for the grand opening), but now our project is solid as a rock. Even our sales department is happy with the result, as tours have a success percentage of almost 100% and we never have to sell 'no’.
Upgrade network infrastructure to 10 Gbit
The last couple of months we have gradually upgraded our network infrastructure to an internal 10 Gbit ring between our data centres Global Switch and DCG Amsterdam. That way we can offer optimal solutions to our customers that are location-redundant. Our external connections to the AMS-IX and NL-IX are also upgraded to 10 Gbit, which increases our external capacity to about 25 Gbit.
